I got my kalk reactor a while back and used Kent Marine Kalkwasser. I ran out and got Balls Pickling Lime. My calcium levels have been lower. Around 320 unlike 420 when I used Kalkwasser. I just increased my stir rate from every 4 hours for 2 mins. to every 4 hours for 4 minutes. I just wondered if its because its let potenet. Also, I recieved my salifert alkalinity test in the mail the other day so I just did a test along with the calicium. My alk was close to 5 DKH or whatever that is. Its obviously low. I have the two part B Ionic calcium supplement from when I use to use it. Should I add the alkalinity buffer?

you may be evaporating less, thus putting less kalk into the tank water. i've never had a problem with it keeping up until winter comes around and my tank evaporates less.

add baking soda for your alk buffer, it's way cheaper. it's what i use to keep the levels in check. i usually add it at the same time as my calcium buffer.
