I bought a RBTA about 5 months ago and now that I'm looking at it today the coloration on the anemone looks really faded. The body of the anemone is actually clear... and the tentacles are a fluorescent pink...now i can't remember if it has always looked like this...or if something has changed...I do think that it has always been pink, but I believe that the rest of it was white. Is there a way to fix this? Is it normal? I haven't been feeding it because my clown fish were hosting it, but for the past few weeks they haven't as much...could this be because it has moved to a place in front of the power head where there is a stronger current?...and should I start to feed the anemone? My lighting is about 2 watts per gallon...but this hasn't seemed to be a problem. Would high nitrates be a cause of this? I've been trying to research and find answers, but haven't been able to find much information...
any advice is greatly appreciated! :help:
(Sorry if I completely bombarded you will questions... :wzbigcry: )

Can you get a picture of this?

Keep in mind that Nems do have Zooxanthellae and colors can change depending on your lighting, and if he sheds some Zooax. And yes they may not like the current where the nem has moved, but you can always redirect your Nem with the power head. In other words point the PH towards him to get him moving away.

Can you get a picture ?
What kind of lighting ?
What size tank ?
What are your parameters ?
If your able to feed it and it accepts it, then I would.

I like to take a pic when I 1st get a fish or coral. It give you a reference point on growth and color. You won't see a difference when you look at your tank 10 times a day. I'd start feeding the new pencil eraser size silver sides or shrimp. If possible place the rock up high in the tank. It coud be a long road to recovery. I have a bleached nem I've been nursing back to health for the last 4-5 months. It is getting better but slowly. Nems have a really low metabolism. If the nem is moving it isn't happy. good luck!! key here is persistence.

I have LED's and fluorescence
my aquarium is a 72 gallon bow front
(I'll give you the test results as soon as possible)
I have taken pictures I just hadn't been able to look at them at the time... I found them and I'll post a before and after...the first two photos were taken today and the third one was taken a little while back. (These pictures were taken on my phone...and the colors are a little bit brighter...the second picture made the anemone look really bad...it isn't that washed out looking at all...) Oh and I meant that it had moved to the spot it's in without actually really "moving"...the way the rock is shaped that the anemone is on lets the anemone stretch out into open water with a strong current or be hidden behind it...and it has a lot of holes through it...so the anemone can be facing any side of the tank without moving its foot... :p I'll try to get some silver sides tomorrow and see if I can get the anemone to eat.
Thanks for help! :)

i bought one of these for my mom's tank, which i am beginning to assume care of. it looked a lot like the image on the right when I purchased it. after moving it to mom's tank, it shrank very small - about the size of a sharpie cap but 2/3 the length. it was all foot and kept the tentacles pretty much completely tucked in. after some specific attention when feeding, it relocated and began to open up again. after some time it split, and again shortly after. so now there's 3, altogether they're about the size of an average cardboard drink coaster and are a dark pink color.

i'm new to the forum and trying to get my post count up so i can post photos. i don't mean to spam this thread, as i'm curious as to what's going on with my RBTA's and wondering how to get them back to that bright pink color and full size.

It's fine...this site is a great place to learn a lot of new things about fish and their care and has helped me a lot :)
My anemone can open to about 8-10 inches around the disk and its foot can stretch to over 12"...so it's a pretty good sized anemone.

I can post pics now... this is what my BTA's look like:

the bottom clump is actually 2. can't really tell if it's done separating yet or what, but there are two discs/mouths.
the one on top i believe is the original, after the first split it moved to where it is now.

this BTA has done some weird stuff. after moving to this tank, it shrank to about the size of the tip of my index finger and was all foot and no tentacle. after feeding it directly, mom said it opened up and relocated a couple times until it settled in this area - where it was once before. it stuffed itself into the crevice above the bottom 'clump' when there was a bristle worm issue.

i really can't say too much about this tank's history as i've only recently moved back in with mom. i'm not happy with how she's somewhat-cared for this tank. i spent a lot of good money on this, as has she, but she really only likes it as something pretty in the den that no one ever spent time in - until i moved into it.

my noob thread i just started is here if anyone wants to look at some other pics and maybe give me a hand with this:
