I was reading that Iodine supplements are a good idea for Peppermint Shrimp. I have a bottle of KENT marine Iodide that I purchased at a sale along with several supplements that I have not used yet. I was wondering if this bottle of IodiDe is the same thing as IodiNE?

If so, how much and how often should I use for one peppermint shrimp in a 55 gal FOWLR tank?

Regular water changes will provide sufficent levels of iodine for your tank.

There is a simple rule when it comes to dosing chemical supplements:

Don't dose what you don't test for.

and no they are not one in the same but both play a roll in our tanks....id suggest reading about each at wikipedia or wherever you can find more factual knowledge rather than anecdotal stories.....

Our fancy shrimp and our lobster shed a couple of times a year. We do 10% once a week water changes.

I don't add anything to the tank but regular top off water and water changes.

Adding things will change other things and unless you are really testing a lot to grow SPS and adding things correctly or buffering Kalk slowly then I wouldn't.

Rain falls as pure water and no one is adding supplements to the ocean.
