Hi,

I came home from work to find a strange v.long brownish string attached to my live rock... it was not there earlier today!

I pulled some of it onto a sponge, to try and identify it, but I am having NO luck finding out what this is.

Can anyone help... please!

(P.s. if you cannot spot it, it is the little brown mass on top of the blue sponge!)

It looks like the discharge from a worm living in your LR. Nothing to worry about. I'd just remove it as the worm produces it.

Thanks, just one more question.

is there any relation between the length of the discharge, and the length of the worm? ... basically... do I have an insanely long worm that I don't know about?!

I have some peanut worms, but they are only 1.5-2.5 inches of visible section, but the discharge was massively more than I would have thought possible!

The worm is most likely much much shorter.

I've never had this in a tank, but these little piles are very common in mangrove swamps.
