Can I run carbon in a media bag in this aqua tech HOB filter? I run a 40 gallon reef tank without a sump. Just curious if it would work the same way.

I have in the past, but you need to make sure the bag holes are big enough not to get clogged, that was the problem I had, the bag would clog, I could not find a bag big enough that would not clog but would not let out the carbon..

I don't have a sump either,I run the pelleted carbon through a H.O.T. magnum on my 75 gallon reef.

Its a 750 and it works great. I was kind of afraid that it would be too much for a 40 but the fishes seem to like it. Its been up around 6 months now. I started with a small 10 gallon which housed the clowns for a few months before I upgraded to the 40. I'm going to start dosing with B-ionic at the start of the year and start filtering with carbon out of that filter if everything goes to plan.

I buy the 1 gallon bottles and it lasted me about 1yr,only add it as needed,not daily,water changes with reef crystals does the trick.
