Hello everyone, im thinking of the best filtration method for my tank. I've read a lot, but want some experienced reefers opinions. Im basically thinking of removing my HOB FILTER to clear up the cluttered tank. Im leaving the skimmer on, since i did just purchase it.

I have a 30 gallon tank, hob filter, hob reef octopus 1000. 50 lbs live rock, 2-3 inch sand bed. No sump/refugium.(2) 425 circultaion pumps. Live stock is 3-5 fish, 10 corals, most everything is hardy (since i'm new to this), and a descent size clean up crew.

I do a water change of 3 gallons 1-2 times every two weeks.

I would agree with removing the HOB filter, but thats a nice skimmer if you need a HOB one!

you might want more circulation pumps, later on if the poo starts to settle around the tank.

keep in mind a 1.5g water change 1-2 times every week can do more.
