I hope I've posted this in the correct forum....my apologies if not.
I have a crab that was given to us & I have no idea what kind it is. He looks like he'd be one of the most common, but I can't find a picture of him anywhere. Anyone know what he is?

P.S. I've heard that crabs will eat snails....is there any chance this little guy could eat/kill a turbo snail? I can't imagine, but want to be safe. Thanks! :)

Looks like a red mithrax to me (but I'm no expert). Good rule of thumb is blunt pincers make good neighbors.

AND WELCOME TO TRT!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info & the warm welcome!! So, a turbo snail has a pretty good chance of holding his own against this guy, huh?

Turbos and every other snail should be just fine as long as they are living. I've personally never seen a mithrax go after a turbo even when the snail has landed on it's back ( a pretty common occurence ).

By tommorrow you can expect an expert opinion around here.

You found the best board on the web.
