ive purchased a female banded bamboo shark 4 days ago. it has recently developed the infamous red belly. i had a mid sized sand in the and thought it was ok only because i also have a male that is about 3 mths old now. today i put a finner sand on top of the exesting in hopes it would be smooth enough. now the questions. sence i caught it fast will he be ok??? apply any meds?? the lfs store said no meds. her breathing was very rapid but has seemed to calm down as the day progressed. any feed back ??
I agree with checking nitrates. Also check ammonia since it is a new addition so you might have a spike from the bioload busting nature of the creature. Also what size tank is this? Sometimes I think redbelly can be the result of being overly restless (cage anaimal syndrome) which can be tank size dependent.
