I need information of safe materials to build a fish guard. I have two clowns in a Biocube 14gal and one has jumped into the cover over the bioballs. He's done it twice today so I grabbed some aluminum foil making into a taller divider. Will this cause any ill effects? Poisoning the water? How long can I use this? Ive seen dividers on eBay but I don't think he will survive another suicide attempt while waiting on shipping. Know one local has it either. What materials can I use to fabricate a permanent one? It is a $90 Picasso

Try some of the mesh gutter stuff, gutter guard or some name like that. It's flexible and perforated.

That looks like a good idea, and less than $15!

I would get the foil out of there as soon as you can, it will not do well around saltwater and could pollute the water.

Maybe some fish net material in meantime? Or the plastic gutter guard as suggested??

Get that aluminum foil out of there ASAP. It corrodes very fast in saltwater and can be toxic.

As Helen mentioned, you can use black plastic gutter guard. They sell it at the major hardware stores.
