Like a green film that covers your glass? Pretty much any type of snail and a good algae scraper will do.

Green diatom algae is a sign of excess silicates in your tank. Its pretty normal for a new tank. Eventually sponges will absorb the silicates and your diatom bloom will dissapate.

ya stays on the glass until i scrape it off but it just comes back again... what is excess silicates????

its SiO4 the diatom algae uses it to construct their cell walls or something. What water are you using? RO/DI or tap water?
using RO water.....read somewhere that if i increase the time the lights are on it would help...i only have them on for 9hrs a day???
