Geoff, I really cant emphasize doing a vinegar soak monthly and powerheads and pumps. This is a shot of the impellor on my old Sen 900. I believe that carbonate crusting in the pump created a friction spot that wore thru the epoxy coating on the impellor, allowing the iron core inside to rust and force the split from expansion . It ran until it just couldnt overcome the drag. Bad thing is the exposed iron leached into the water causing a ferrous toxity that wiped out the tankGeoff said:into work, i know later than all you at home high speed people.
fun time last night. got home the skimmer pump was not working.it got all crusted up. i guess i need to clean it more than never.
well anyway the the tank had gotten up to 83.5 degrees
it is suppose to be at 80 this time of year, not to bad. the refugium on the other hand was down to 60 degrees.
at least i know the chiller i made works.
well after some cleaning everything is back to normal.
hope everyone has a great day.
