A bought a nice little goby for my 55 the other day. The first day he dug a hole under a clam shell. The second day he was hanging out on the other side of the tank in open water. Now I can't find him.:( I hope he is just hiding out in the LR somewhere, but what if he died and is rotting away somewhere? Should I test for ammonia? How can I tell if he's still alive?

My Pepermint shrimp does that. I bought him 3 weeks ago and I didn't see him no more. I thought he was dead. Then I saw him yesterday for the first time. Haven't seen him since then.

Thanks for the replies and words of encouragement. He is a Court Jester Goby which from what I have just read are extremely shy. I'll bet he's dug himself a nice little hole way in the back somewhere! I'm going to start looking for him when the lights are off.
