Just wondering, is there significant savings in energy usage/cost when going from pc lights to t5ho?
what we have: 2x96W PC fixture,
what we're looking at: 4x39W T5 HO.
Our current fixture is pretty new, so unless there's a big difference energy-wise, we weren't going to switch over.

t.i.a.!

Well, energy consumption is not just determined by wattage but also ballast types. MH, t5, VHO and PC will all have varying energy consumption despite wattage. Also, ballast type can make a difference, ie: magnetic vs electronic. As for bulbs, PC bulbs are not cheap! Sometimes $40-60. I have seen t5's for $10. I am not sure though how energy efficient PC's are.

T5HO bulbs have over twice the PAR output per watt than PC bulbs so for your energy usage you get WAY more usable light. Plus PCs need changed every 6 months and T5HO you can wait a year before changing. Very worth the switch.
