so i have a 15 inch snowflake moray in a 40 breeder and i feel he would be happier in a bigger system, so i want to set up one of those rubbermaid water troughs this spring and a 150 gallon water trough for just 1 eel is a little overkill i feel. Would i be able to keep him with a zebra moray? or what type of other eel could i keep him with?
I used to have a fairly large snowflake eel (~18 inch) in a 55 gallon. The aforementioned website places caution with mixing eels. The zebra gets rather large and any competition for habitat would lead to bad news for the snowflake. My snowflake was territorial with his caves. He bit me a few times while feeding and while doing tank maintenance. I think with a larger eel, that may mean disaster for him, especially considering how big the zebra eels get.
