Hey Paul! T. squamosa are a real good choice for first clam as they do not require as much light as the other ones! Here is my squamosa clam I have had for a couple of months!:)

This morning, I reached in my tank and turned my clam 90 degrees so that he was oriented perpendicular to the front glass again. Well, by this evening he had rotated back so that he was parallel to the glass. I guess I got me a stubborn one (maybe its really a she)! :D

Thanks for all of the advise. I may be geting a clam in about a 2-5 weeks. I just need to sit through this little algea problem. My LFS had some clams but they where the Maxima (I think). They where the purple, blues, and green ones. The ones that I can have yet :D But I dont rememeber seeing any brown ones.
