guys chill with the "theyre just fish" comment. im sorry i offended you all. it wasnt meant as an insult. to be clear, i absolutley love my tank. its my hobby. i spend hours a day working/staring at it when i should be doing other stuff. im obssessed with it. im considering marine biology as a carrer. fish are super important to me as well. I simply meant that all your reactions to my comment about killing a tang were a bit excessive. you dont need to rub it in my face that i killed a fish. i cried when it died, im a kid. i am shocked that you guys reacted so strongly to my sad mistake. when i said they are just fish, i mean that the death of my tang doesnt deserve the reaction that you guys gave me. thats not saying he isnt important, i loved that little fella. so come one, lets just drop the whole issue and move on.

I can see where everyone is coming from. The people that were not happy with extremereefer like fish enough to speak out to others to make their fish happy and live healthy. Extremereefer likes fish enough where he has trouble limiting the amount of fish he puts in his tank. Everyone talking on this thread doesn't want to hurt fish but mistakes can happen so nobody should be upset

I think you have summed it up quite nicely there. Now lets get back on the topic and see if we can get him set up the right way and slowly this time. First get teh tank cycled before adding fish, then add a clean up crew (dont forget to feed them). After a week or so you can add a fish and check params and watch the tank for a few weeks and go from there. Rome wasnt built in a day and neither will a reef tank. No matter what all these TV series' want to make us believe. Remember the EMPTY tanks being sold on ebay months after they had them.....

Wow

Has anyone actually gone into the reason why a large bioload in a smaller(ish) sumpless tank is a problematic issue in the first year of a tank's existence yet? Any SMD readers yet?

We could also go into environmental ethics too... I have extensive training in that as well.
