A 70 gallon? Never heard of that... You can only add one more fish w/o overstocking your tank. Any dwarf angel would fit into a 30 IMO.

Dwarf angels will. If you're getting your min. tank size from LA, they are incredibly high. A 30 gallon will be fine for only one dwarf angel.

Is this a reef? They are a hit or miss in reefs. Some will be model citizens, and others will be monster coral eaters.

Flamebacks and pygmys only get 3" long, and would be perfect for your tank. Though, I am kind of in love with flame angels.

Doc, lets say the tank wasn't already stocked well. Would a flameback or pygmy do well in his tank? Since they only do get 3". I can see where you're coming from with the others, but these two are just so small.

Dwarf angels aren't the most territorial fish IME. I believe that one of the smaller ones would do fine if he didn't already have four fish.

What's the point of coming on here and looking for ONE person to say you can, and then when multiple people say no, ignoring their advice and going ahead and doing it? Seems like a waste of time to me.

ok for clarification here is/was my advice:
add the pigmy and monitor the params, if they become bad then return him, if not then keep him. by adding him for a week or so wont hurt anything.
(i didnt know he was cycling so i dont think he should do this until he is done)
how is this bad advice. you may have an opinion that he cant handle it, but its on the edge and it might work, so why not try it. no fish wil die because if the params get bed then he returns it

You can't push a tank to its breaking point and then expect that returning a fish will solve everything.

We're not just talking about water quality. Fish need space. Clowns can be very territorial, and so can dwarf angels.

I wouldn't have put more than the pair of clowns in the tank at this point. He already stocked too fast, and stocking more could easily crash his tank.

Personally, I'm not saying that a dwarf angel couldn't live happily in a 30 gallon. I'm saying that his tank is already stocked to the max, and it was stocked too fast, and if he adds any more fish, the effect could be bad.

Prime will not fix ammonia, trates, and trites. And returning the fish does not solve the problem. The damage will already have been done.

We're not picking on you. But what you're saying is completely wrong. And attitudes like "They're just fish. Who cares if they die." are exactly what could bring the downfall of this hobby.
