im planning to add dry sand to my tank ... i have to take out the cc first but i was wondering wat is the best possible dry sand ? and can i get just any sand from home depot?

Use aragonite sand, which is calcium based. Most of the sand at home depot is quartz based, although they used to sell some aragonite sand. One simple test is to add some vinegar to a cup of sand. If it bubbles up, then it's aragonite. Personally, I think it's just easier to get aragonite from the LFS or a big box pet store.

Agreed...I used silca based sand from HD once...always dry aragonite from the LFS from now on!
