One of my clown fish died (well actually disappeared!!). I have absolutely no idea what has happened - they were around 2 year old and all water parameters are perfect, and there has been no body found!
Anyway, my second clown is sulking a bit having lost his/her partner and I am considering adding another one. The question is, how can I add another friend and will he take to it?
Do yo have a CUC, if you do they might have eaten before you noticed he was gone. Most clowns will pair again but it is a hit or miss. The best thing to do is get another clown that is smaller than what you have.
This might sound foolish but have you checked your overflow? If a drilled tank look in there. One of my clowns will somehow manage to get past the return and end up back there. I've put some floss to block it off but check there and maybe you will get lucky...
I have a CUC consisting of 1 shrimp, 4 emeralds and a handful of hermits, but I wouldn't have imagined they would have eaten it so soon? It is a red sea reefer which I have so I don't think it could have got caught there? (I attach a photo).
The picture doesn't do justice - there is a black cover goes over it so the only way it would get in would be to swim in the outlet nozzle which is pretty powerful! The only thing I can think is its jumped out the tank and my dog has eaten it :-(.
LOL I have found my dog playing with a fish a few times. The last time the fish actually survived
