QUESTION....

I want to get Phosban in a media bag ... I have a BONE STOCK biocube 29 can i put a media bag in C3 with the pump and will it be effective?

I don't understand the reactor thing, well i understand but it seems too much for a 29g tank whats everyone's opinion?

Yes. Place the bag in an area with little turbulence so the media does not grind itself to dust or get sucked up against a pump suction.

Before adding anything, first make sure you have a phosphate problem using a reliable test kit. If you do have elevated phosphates your first thing is to locate the source like foods etc and make an attempt to reduce the phosphates that way.

If you still want to add Phosban start with 15 grams or about 1.5 level tablespoons of media and change it every couple weeks. Full dose would be 30 grams or about 3 spoons full but I prefer to run a half dose as a preventive measure rather than full dose as the risk of bleaching corals is much less.

Yes you can place the Phos ban into an area where it gets water movement through the bag. It will not be quit as effective as the surface area will be just a bit smaller but it will work fine. If you have charcoal in the system you may want to remove the charcoal as it may be the source of the phospahtes.

Thanks guys really appreciate it ..I will invest in phos test.. Remove charcoal? I have a charcoal filter that is part of stock filtration ? What do u suggest I do there? That's the only filter I have. I've seen several people take there bio balls out and put a box there with stuff in it I'm new to this so started small?

Thanks again

Activated carbon is a good media to use but make sure it is good quality. Some of the discount brands can leach chemicals. Bioballs are OK for a fish only system but trap detritus and eventuall lead to nitrate problems with a reef system and corals don't like nitrates.
There are a lot of good threads for newbies if you do a little searching. Another good source for nano tanks is www.nano-reef.com which is pretty much nano specific.
