Hey, new here:)

So today i got a feather duster and it looks like a baby seastar came along with it. It is incredibly tiny but i put it in my tank hoping it will survive and eventually grow, has this ever happened to anyone? is it most likely going to die or does it have a chance? :fish:

Some folks say types of Asterinas will eat zoas.

I tend to pull them out when I see them. We have a lillte bottle full of them.

Oh wow i had no idea, how big do they grow? is there anything that eats them???
Not more tan around 2cm wide. Tiny.

You could borrow a harlequin shrimp. But most harelquins will decimate an asterina population with days depending on the tank. So maybe keep it for a week and then give it back to your LFS or a local reefer. Most people are willing to lend them out.

I have had asterina in my tank for a few months now and have never had any problems with it eating anything other than algae. I have anemones, zoas, xenia, kenya trees, gsp, montipora, hammer, welso brain, and various mushrooms. They are, IME, harmless.
