Hi All,

I'm new to salt water tanks and I'm not sure where to post this.

I have a 10 months old tank. I've had a little siano(spelling) bacteria(Burgandy color) action going on for the past 6 months. No big deal, it's easy to remove. But about 2 months ago, I started seeing a brownish yellow scum growing on my live rock and then onto my sand and glass. When it gets thicker, it starts to develops bubbles in it.

It's all over and I can't keep it clean. I tried cutting down the hours of light and I have a new protien skimmer.

I'm not sure if this is an algie or another form of bacteria!

Thanks,

Scotty.

Algae grows when there is excess nutrients and light. This main source of the problem is over feeding and people who use conditioned tap water.

Are you using RODI/Distilled water or Tap?

I use conditioned tap water. I'm also only feeding once a day to make sure I am not over feeding.
