After 12 years I’m back!!!
After all the twists and turns in life’s windey road I have returned to the hobby. When I had to break down my 75gallon the intention was to downsize to a 45gallon cube but that never got further than buying the tank… but I digress…here I am in 2023 dipping my toes back in with a 5gallon nano. The plan is a zoa garden with the possibility of a few lps, birds nest or Monti and maybe a torch or hammer if space allows. Here I am so far…. I’m bleach curing some of my old rock from the 75.

I have a couple pieces of reef saver in the tank for now just to look at.
The tank is a marine land 5 gallon portrait tank with integrated filter. Out the door Upgrades i have on the way are 130gpm return pump, a Kessil a80BT and ceramic bio media. I’m still looking for an economical DC wave maker pump something like a mp10 but smaller.

Just got done pulling out the last of my Tonga rock from storage, right at 40lbs. Got it bleach curing as well, if I’m gonna do a little I may as well do a lot. What I don’t use in this little nano will go back into storage clean, ready for whenever I decide to get the 45 cube going. I still have another 3 milk crates full of other rock that needs to be sterilized as well, but that’s another weeks project.

Like Whiskey said, we get almost as many returns as new reefers on here......the ones that got hooked on this and had to stop for a bit, rather than a passing fancy that passed for them.
I had a heartbreaking failure of my system this past winter.....and after licking my ego wounds am looking forward to returning, though as most, greatly reduced in capacity.

I haven't used that one, but propellor powerheads for a tank this size are a challenge. I used this one in my 10G and eventually moved it over to my 25.

Yeah, I faced the same thing. All the propellor pumps are huge. This one is a little different because it inverts the motor to have it running vertically and save space. There is also the AI Nero which is like a computer fan and has the motor overlapping to save space.
This is what the Tunze one looked like in my Cuby, I think this is 8 gallon in the display?
