I am going to add some pajama cardinals into my 90 gallon FOWLR. I know these fish are best in a small group or singly, but what exactly constitutes a small group. I like the idea of the school, but don't want to use up all my space for future additions. The only other fish in the tank are two percula clowns and the cleanup crew. Suggestions? The tank has been running (cycling) for about two months. Thanks!

I have two and they stick together just fine. Last week I discovered that they are mate-ed. The male had baby fish eggs in his mouth. They are mouth brooders so the male holds the eggs in his mouth for a couple of weeks while the babies incubate. I was really excited but then after several days I discovered that he had released them. I doubt any will survive but I'm guessing they provide a nice caviar snack for some of my other tank inhabitants. :funny:
I love these fish, PJ Cardinals are cool...

Thanks for the input. I found one site that said I could keep between 4 and 6, but might have problems with aggression if they start pairing up. Anyway, going to the fish store today to get at least three (probably 5). If they get aggressive it will become an excuse to start another tank:nuts:

As a wrap up, I got 3 for now. I don't want to boost the bio load too, far too fast. I may add 2 more in a couple of weeks and see what happens. Already it appears that 2 are a pair, and the other one a bit of a loner. Good luck with the babies Szucchi. Let us know what happens!

Funny thing. Last week the male had dropped his clutch of eggs and I was bummed. Fast forward a week and he has another clutch in his mouth. These two are very busy, hopefully I will become a grand daddy soon. LOL:thumbup:
