I added about 25 pounds of live rock to my 3 week old 30 gal tank about a week ago (after letting it soak and giving it a good rinsing), and the initial cloudiness caused by the rock seemed minimal and I figured it would clear in about a day or two, not happening. So far it seems to have been getting progressively worse and I'm not sure how to solve it...At the moment I only have a dopey HOB mechanical filter (saving my nickels for a nice skimmer), didn't think of it as too big of a problem because I wouldn't be adding fish or inverts for months, but perhaps I'm wrong? What could be causing the cloudiness? How can I manage it until I get a proper skimmer? Or is it just part of the cycling process? All advice welcome, thanks for helping a noobie :)

What you are seeing is most likely a bacterial bloom. Normal part of the process and it will go away on its own once the bacteria evens out.
