Ive got an Oceanic 37 (half a 75) and a 2x24 T5 retrofit lying around Im hoping to turn into a soft coral dominated reef. Its got a GE 6500K and a blue+ bulb.

Is this going to be enough light for soft/lps corals? I dont know much about T-5 intensity

Thanks,

Bob

What are the demensions on the tank. I run 4 t-5 that are 36" on my 57 oceanic tank plus a 24" artinic.

I think I might not enough let some of the other weigh in.

Its one of the semi-cube tanks they used to make - 24"x18"18"....

I tend to lean towards just picking up another 2x24W but I'd like to avoid it...

at only 18" the light should penetrate, i think you can go with lower wattage on t-5's im not that sure though. but either way, i think youd be fine with softs. they dont need much.

I would overdrive the bulbs and use IC reflectors on 2 bulbs, should be about enough, those are both very high PAR bulbs but still 4 would be better at 18" wide.

I think you should use 4 of them, but normally drive them.

I would agree.......while 2 bulbs overdriven & good reflectors would probably be enough PAR, the width of the tank should really have 4 bulbs.
