I think it is because PVC is more widely available. I just used PVC cement.

Reseal the whole tank, not just an area. Use a razor blade and remove all silicone. Rub and clean with alcohol. Then tape off area and apply silicone. Its pretty easy to get the silicone out. Just time consuming.

That was my general plan Vinnie. Scrape and clean the tank, mask it off and apply. Remove tape when it just starts to skim over. I have some good 99% alcohol to clean with.

I remove tape immediately after finishing applying the silicone. If it skims over it will give zagged edges.
If you get some in areas you don’t want it easily removed with paper towel and alcohol. That big of tank when you finish applying silicone , start removing tape where you started applying first.

Are you using clear or black silicone. Black looks best to me .

I am using black Vinnie. It was black originally and has a black aluminum frame. I like the clear for rimless tanks.
