Just looking to get some insight on what way to run my protein skimmer. I have a tunze 9001 running in my fluval m60 (24gallon all in one) which has seemed to be doing pretty good besides the fact that i'm getting some film on the surface in the back of my tank. It's a tight sqeeze when i put...
I have a reef octopus BH-300 HOB. It is only running at 50% to save space. I have a substantial amount of scum accumulating on the surface. It contains bubbles and some bits of scraped algae. I was wanting to add a surface skimmer like they make for the BH-100ss but could not find...
The Flow will be going over the back and the sump will be a DIY 10G with three chambers. The beginning of the flow will start with a surface skimmer down to the first chamber of the sump. In the first chamber there will be a HOT protein skimmer. The water then over-flows to the second chamber...
This is probably a newbie question, but I've never had this problem before.
As some of you know, I've been having some algae issues and some brain issues in my nano. It a AP24 with a Coralife 96W PC, a Magnum HOT, and 2 Hydror Nanos. Anyhwoooo, I have a nicely manicured lawn on the right side...
What do you guys think of this tank?....I'm about to 'buy it now' :D
I currently have a 28 gal nano tank...but wanted to get another smaller one to experiment with :)
My 12 gallon nano is doing good but it has some gunk on the surface of the water. We cut a notch out of the back filter area to make an overflow but it didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions how to skim the surface in a nano?
About every 10 to 15 minutes a jet of micro bubbles comes out my return from the sump. I have baffles in the sump and except for these 1 second instances there is no bubble problem. It takes about a minute for them to clear up after they shoot out. What could be causing this? How can I stop it...

My wife (Pinky70, just signed her up) is getting a used 12G cube tonight. She was originally thinking about just putting freshwater in it, but after looking around at LFS I think she has decided to go reef...
My 12g nano looked somewhat similar to this as of this morning:
The anemone was traded off last week. Flat rock hasn't been in the in months. The large rock was there but I wanted it in my main tank(125g).
I really wanted to do something with the tank that allowed more room for the percs...

It was my wifes freshwater tank.
The blue background was a special adhesive aquarium background, which I just removed. Surprisingly it came off in one piece. It was like a really tough vinyl. I remember putting it on, it...

A few winters ago my Minibow 7 got wiped out with a 48 hour power outage ice storm
But last weekend I decided it was time to start it up again (since I had most of the equipment already). So I did.
Basic setup to include:
AquaClear 300 w/ surface skimmer atachment
jph's 24G aquapod HQI

the plan still remains that i'll be moving my 90 into this 24. but not everything will fit, ofcourse. most of the rock will be up for grabs :)...
