I am going to the caribbean for a week and will do some snorkeling (the rest of the time I will be staring at the water hoping to see a fish!). I have been snorkeling here before, and as I recall there was very little acro corals that weren't bleached. I know there are lots of sea fans...
I really enjoy my Green Star polyps but I placed them on a large piece of live rock and they are starting to spread.
What coral can I place in their way from spreading over the entire length of live rock?
There is nothing else growing on this large rock at the moment. The live rock is...
o.k. i had some shots that i was gonna post in my other thread but after looking at them i thought it would be funnier to play the guessing game !

My first skimmer on my 55 is a Coralife with a venturi. Recently I bought an Aqua C Remora hangon with a 1200 maxijet for my 27 hex. Probably more than it needs but I empty the collection cup every day and the other skimmer on my 55 maybe every 10 days. Is the Remora that much more efficient...
I have some star coral, mushrooms etc and some zoos. All are doing well except the zoos that suddenly want to close up. PH is 8.4, no nitrates, alkalinity is 2.5 and tank is 5 months old. Thriving macro algae and limited bio load. Skim unless feeding inverts & corals. 48 inch power compacts...
I had this green brain coral for a feew weeks and when I feed my fish mysis last night and the green brain's tentacles came out and a few mysis fell into it and it pulled it in. i was like WHOA!! coooool!!!
should I feed this coral on a regular basis?
We have had a whole variety of questions on my tank that would no doubt be best solved by pictures so here it goes on the brain coral.
This one is the original photo of what my brain's coloration was shortly after...
I had an open brain coral hitchhike on my lr when I first cycled my tank.
It started out purple and just your basic skeleton, nothing fancy.
Didn't die, instead grew large tentacles and can now be described as fuzzy at night.
The latest change is recently he has started to get that real...
Okay guys, here goes it.
I have a 37 gallon refugium and 55 gallon main which are currently cycling with live rock and live sand (4 weeks this Saturday). I have a Remora Pro hang on protein skimmer (using the mag 3) with a preskimmer box, a u-tube overflow box and an adjustable submersed pump...
Ok, first let me give a bit of background on how the tank was originally set up approximately 4 years ago.
- 180 gallon tank with 75 gallon sump/refugium.
- 6" DSB in main tank as well as about 50% of the refugium.
- Aqua C 180 skimmer.
- 6 VHO lights over main tank and 4 over refugium.
In the beginning there wasn't much there! Enough stuff for Oscar to be amused, however. Nov 2003
Then as time went one a little more was added. April 2004
10-16-05- not enough stuff, but getting closer! I still need more live rock.

I just set up a JBJ 12 gallon dx. I left everything in it that came. So far all I have is about 15 lb live sand and about 7lb live rock. The live rock came with a sea squirt, star coral, clams of some type,purple/orange/red coralline,a hitch hiker crab that I think is a stone crab. I plan on...
I started cycling my liverock about 3 days ago, and noticed today that my pH is measuring around 7.4. I have read that the pH will drop some during the cycling, but 7.4 seems to be even below the low range. I'm not sure what to do now. Should I just let it go and keep monitoring for a few more...
