I've decided to build a frag tank, at least 48 long by 24 front to back. Willing to go up to 96 by 24. I'm shopping for a tank and lights at the moment so if you have either or both and would be willing to sell or trade please let me know.
YES! I have official began my build. I am upgrading my 75 gallon. I will post some pics of the room that I am partitioning off and what the plan is.
-I ordered the tank today. Will be here on Friday (I know, quick huh)
-Will get a hundred pounds or so of live rock on Sat.
Alright, I asked this on the other site. No one was too positive, and I only had a couple responses. I have a 190g, thats only 20" tall. I want this in the extra bedroom we have in our house, rather than our converted garage, which is now another extra room. The side bedroom is lifted off the...
Okay...I'll preface this by saying that I know there is no good answer and obvioulsy every system is different, but I'm interested in what people think.
What percentage of the intial start-up costs (minus livestock) will you spend per year for:
A: A FOWLR Set-Up
B: An Invert Set-Up
OK latest brain storm.

Deltec MCE600 Skimmer - $500
Current USA 250W MH - $300

What do ya think? Missing anything
So I had this little mishap with some brass fittings when I set up my latest tank a few months ago (long story, don't ask). Anyway, the fittings were quickly removed and everything in the tank is doing well (except my brand new anemone but that's in a different post). I have been running the...
I am in the middle of planning my closed loop on a 75g and could use some advice. The pump I am looking at is either the Sequence Snapper or Dart. Which would be the better choice for the 75g? Also, how many, what size and where should the holes go for a closed loop in a 75g? Keep in mind my...
Well I have my IP camera up and running. If anyone wants to check out my wet room please send me a private message and let me know when you will be on and how long. You can control the camera as well and my internet is limited so I will give each person a login that will be for a certain time...
All of you plastic sump builders should be all over this one. I am building plastic hinged enclosures around some HiPot test machines at work so we don't shock the troops with high voltage.
My plastics engineer wingman recommended some sort of polycarbonate sheet which includes Lexan.
Okay, well hopefully it will be okay to post my build hear even if it is a freshy tank. I just need to take a break from salt for awhile and this is the best way I see. On top of that some members have asked me to put some pics up, so I am happily doing so.
My nightmare mess in the garage and...
OK I know some of you thought it was sacrilege that I tore my 450-gallon system down. Numerous issues compiled and aided in the decision.
First off was the system itself. I think anyone who builds their first dream system will tell you that a lot more thought went into building it than...
I have a 75 gallon reef tank and 40 gallon sump with 2 175 W MH. The temp is slowly getting out of hand. It ranges from 81-83 when the lights are on. I get around 3 hrs of MH light before the Controller turns the light off at 83. I would like to keep the tank at 79 or 80 and get 8 hours of...
Anyone done any or is it just me?
Drilling the tank and smashing the glass.
Leaving the RO unit running and going to the seaside for the day.The carpets got a good wash.:)
Most recent, buying a really expensive zoa that cost me £30[about $60]for three tiny polyps.Placed it on the liverock...
Well we talked about substrates, we talked about Live rock..
So i figure the next topic should be on flow.
My thoughts are hitting this in two areas. possible three .
what is flow, why is it important, is it really? what does it do for our tanks? for our corals?
Flow and parameters?
