I am attempting to regenerate a batch of GFO.
I kinda sorta didn't totally follow the instructions I found on the google.
I started off with a full strength vinegar bath to remove carbonate build up. I THEN started reading and realized I needed to dilute the vinegar for this...
CHANGING TANKS, MOVING SAND TO REFUGIUM, GOING BARE BOTTOM.
SAND IS SOLID FOR NITRATE REMOVAL.
ANY WAY TO DETERMINE IF IT IS LOADED WITH PHOSPHATES...????
CAN SAND BE CLEANED, RINSED, TREATED TO REGNERATE.
i HAVE TO BELIVE THE LIVE SAND FROM THE OCEAN .... IS NEW SAND...HAHA.
I am moving tanks... I am going bare bottom on the main tank.. and will have a deep bed sand filter in a separate refugium.
My current sand bed is 6 yrs undisturbed... and was moved from a prior tank with 4 yrs on it. Nitrates -0
