Well a few months back, I lost my fish due to an attack brittle star, so I waited a while to get a new one, got rid of the brittle and went and picked up my order. here is a pic of my new baby.
yep im setting up a 40 gallon breeder as my first saltwater aquarium my dad has a 300 gallon also and he has a naso, kole, red sea sailfin, yellow, purple, and a bule morph tang.
My question is what is a small tang that is affordable and able to be in a 40 gallon breeder which is 36x18x16.
I would like to have a tang in my tank. What one would you recommend if i am able to have one in mine.
i know people recommend a min of a 6 foot tank. but some of the articles i have read on tangs a few of the tangs state a min of 75 which is a 4 foot tank.
suggestions?
Our Red Sea Sailfin tang has crossed over....
He was with us for several years, is in my avatar, and was a lovely fish in every respect.
For a few weeks he'd been hanging around behind the rocks, never swimming in front, we didn't see him eat, but he didn't look thin. He looked fine, but we...
We have one of those little guys that live for about a week, they usually die after they have consumed the parasites from the other fish in the tank. When I first got into the hobby I got one and was surprised how quickly they went to work, but they soon died after they did a great job cleaning...

OK it has been almost 6 months to the date since i had fish in my big 72 gallon tank. I just got the new ASM G3 skimmer today and it will get hooked up in a few day. I don't have the money right now for fish but soon i hope. I wanted some fish finally which is one reason i got the new skimmer...
I have a royal gramma and a flasher wrasse in my 118g. I know down the road I want a pair of Genicanthus angels, a pair of maroon clowns, and a Tang (or two). That is 7-8 fish, but I'm thinking a couple smaller fish would be ok in there too, plus I've gotta wait for the tank to establish to...
Well, thanks to a careless moving company and an awesome wife I get to join in the fun. The tank is being delivered tomorrow at noon. For any of you who didn't my other thread the mover broke my 65 and the wife said it was a great time to upgrade.
The plan:

Nitrates through the roof! 100ppm+ and Phosphates measuring 0 with Salifert test kit (i'm sure it not though).
This tank was a downsizing from our last tank and everything in this tank was in the last minus some rock, fish and corals. We pretty much had the same problem with the last setup...
Ok, so aside from all the coral I need, I just couldn't resist the fish poop:funny: Sooooo, on order : Sohol Tang:D , Red Sea Sailfin tang;) and 3 yellow damsels:arg: , why the yellow damsels? Well, I needed something to balance out the 8 blue chromis, 1 neon pseudo-chromis, and 4 Kaudern's...
I am wanting to replace the PBT that I lost after my tank crashed several months ago, and am doing some research. At the moment I have a Flame hawk, a foxface rabbitfish, and three Ocellaris clowns in a 180 gallon tank with a 60 gallon sump voulme (total volume of 240 gallons). I am looking at...
I'm wanting to start a 75G reef. There's many fish I'm finding just won't work out in a reef tank. Granted I understand reef tanks are not about the fish, but I would like to have some fish I can enjoy in there. What kind of fish would be full proof for that size tank? I wanted to put some...
