Do all acropora coral carry red bugs? I have recently read that red bug is commonly found on acropora and I wasn't sure if it meant that all acropora carry red bugs or that most red bugs are found on acropora.
FYI, I got a new acro yesterday (ORA purple acro with green polyps) and I dipped for 8 minutes in about 1.2 gallons using the coral RX 1 shot. It's one little tube you break open and dump in. I put it in a bucket with a power head and then shook it out in dip. Then rinsed in clean tank water...
I turned over my live rock recently and found a small red bug about a CM long. Ive attached a photo and was looking to gain from communal wisdom as to any threats these bugs may pose to my tank. no corals just 2 percula clowns, their eggs and an assortment of snails and crabs.
OK so I had to retire my first sps today. I took it into the sun to bleach it and I noticed there was about 20 orange spots all over the coral :bigeek:
So please let me know if these look familiar and if they could cause a bigger problem in my tank. I have a couple of other sps in there.
Below are 2 pics of some sps I got at the midwest fragfest on May 3rd. Both have shown lots of growth since I purchased them, but I noticed these areas today and got concerned. The tank has T5 lights, params are sal 1.025, ph 8.1 to 8.3, calc 440, alk 10.2, mag 1260. Both are in the lower third...
I thought I had killed off all the red bugs in my tank, but I found one on an acro last week. I'm fresh out of Interceptor and was wondering if anyone had some extra I could buy before I went off to the vets office.
This brings me to the next point of this post - now that the club is really...
When can I introduce acropora into my tank? My water is as follows
I have had tremendous success with all other types of coral, what are the requirements for this?
Full tank shot:
Water was so clear today I figured i'd take a side shot too!:
Stuber Stag, Teal stag(recovering from the red bugs as you can see), what looks to be bonsai, and and Roscoe's Acro
ORA Tri-Color and wild acro (check out the growth on it since...
Well I only have one acropora, been waiting to see how things turned out with it before i purchased anymore, but things have made a major turnaround with it so I think i'm gonna get some more now. here are a few pics of its horrible life i gave it till now.
firs one is a few months after i got...
So after seeing my light blue stag start receeding from the top I inspected it and noticed one red bug...But I'm sure it's not the only one so I would like to treat the tank for it...Interceptor is the only way to right?
I will be bringing a handful of frags with me but if there is anyone else who would specifically like to trade some of the more rare corals feel free to pm, I want to bring some but I don't want to bring so many to where some get passed out and get just xenia or something in return...I plan on...
Hi folks! First-time reefkeeper and first-time forum poster all in one!
I'm hoping that someone may be able to offer some advice on a crabby problem that I'm currently having?
My original 24G nano is appx. 1 year old, my second 24G is about 6 months old - we've been taking it real slow with...
I'm going to start treating my tank for red bugs next week, but was wondering if anybody knows if lionfish, eels and starfish are sensitive to interceptor? I know that lions are senstive to copper is what got me to thinking... I also know that my inverts have to come out but not sure about the...
I am not sure if these little bugs are good or bad. They may be the culprit of a sudden loss of this coral.

we have some really great fish and corals in right now. I'd say the highlights are an aussie harlequin tusk, fisher's angel, gold saddle rabbitfish, a majestic angel, a trio of pygmy angels that play nice together, and an rbta with a pair of ora host percs.
also got in a "shipment" of LE sps...
I do not have a good experience with Acroporas. They keep bleaching after a couple of weeks from delivery. I usually get everything mail ordered. So I guess there's much stress on them in the shipping process. But what are the best ways to keep them alive and thriving? My tank is new... about 3...
