So I decided against messing with my extra impeller. My main issue is I want more air in the chamber. I hooked up my aqua lifter pump to the venturi intake on my skimmer and instantly got what I want. The only problem is it was too much. I had a bubble overflow in my collection cup. So what...

I few months ago I wass all hyped up to buld myself a Ca Reactor. I decided that the total costs including hardware (reg, controller, tank, etc) was morer than I could afford. Well after spending close to 15 buckes a week in Liquid Ca. and I still cannot get my Ca over 300ppm. (heavy SPS tank) I...

Its been a couple months now so long I stoped keeping track. So to update in the beginning I was receiving a 25w AquaUV for free from the company. Alot of the feedback (large majority) said it was useless eventhough 99% of all the large beautiful tanks I have seen (i.e. reefcentral tank of the...

OK I've decided I want a Ca reactor... I've found plans for many types ( I like the acrylic ones, do not like the all PVC ones) Buy after doing the math they are not that much cheaper than off the shelf ones??? Should I try the DIY and (if I screw it up) waste the moeny or just buy a "good"...

If you made the feed pump a NW venturi would it help, or the cost to up grade would be minimal for the return of investment. I can't see it harming production, unless the increased amount of air would effect the performance. I have not seen a 'factory' recirc with a nw/venturi pump. Thanks.

I found this, but it is there away to hook it up as your recirc pump? The "enlarged picture" doesn't help. http://www.dtpetsupplies.com/catalog/Water-Pumps-Power-Heads/Submersible-Pumps-Powerheads/Powerheads-155-gph-To-480-gph/Gen-X-submersible-GX1000-NEEDLE-WHEEL-WATER-PUMP-265-max-gph/ Any...

I'm looking to buy a calcium reactor for my 125. What should I look for if I buy new? Used?

I have a nice calcium reactor, but the pipe from the recirc pump has cracked the bottom of the tube (looks like previous owner picked up the reactor by the PVC). What can I do to repair the tube?? Does anyone have any liquid acrylic or anything else they recommend?? Thanks!

boy, do we NEED SOME STANDARDS to judge these devices by... There are currently only speculative comments to judge most skimmers by, even though there is good science behind the design and function of foam fractioning skimmers. Even when we discuss these skimmers in a reasonable open...

The "other" board is talking about the new Octo Xtreme, which has 3 models, the 160, 200, and 250 (the latter two looking like copies of the ATI Bubble Master 200 ($550) and 250 ($760)). For $275, 325, and 475 these look like a great deal, especially since they use Sicce pumps (same ones used...

I don't know about most of you folks, but it never fails that even if I have several tubes of superglue (cyanoacrylate gel) in my workroom, I never seem to have enough to do frags that I end up with JUST CLEANING THE algae off the GLASS!!! I'm working on a recirc diy skimmer for my tank. It was just going to be a gravity fed design (sump/fuge in basement) with an air pump/stone but I think a recirc pump will be very beneficial. So, does anyone have an external pump laying around that they could part ways with for cheap? I see...

I'm working to bring by 75G back online, and trying to implement a few changes. I have a protein skimmer (unknown brand) which is a venturi style. It has a inlet about 3/4 way up, aims down into the chamber through a venturi (air sucked from exterior). It has an outlet which is plumbed to...
