Our Cucumber is doing something very strange. It has climbed to the top of the LR and extended himself straight up. He has his mouth feelers retracted, but there is a bump on the top of his head, (if you can call it that). It is leaking a stream of white goo into the column. I would have...

I just found a little (stress little!) extra cash lying around and have many reefing needs. Please help me decide my next move. Should I: 1) Refugium 2) Upgrade pitiful RO unit to more GPD and add DI 3) Save cash for lighting upgrade 4) say "bag the reef - let's have a party!" I'm leaning...

Are mini brittle stars and dwarf limpits good additions to a reef with a 4 1/2" DSB? My bed is about 3 months old now and it needs a kick in the critter department scince it was started mostly with dead argonite and the commercialy packaged argonite and bacteria live sand. Natures Ocean...

Hey Gang, When is the next meeting? I know that it is going to be in Vancouver, but I will probably have to plan this thing out a couple of weeks. I'm competing with the "Creative Memories" classes being held this month. Thanks, Dave

Before I buy new pieces of coral for my tank how do I keep my live rock/sand in good condition? Do I treat it like a soft coral? Do I need to dose my tank while I cycle it with live rock in it?(a.k.a break it in with those fiesty damsel fish?)

Could anyone actually list the species that live in the sand, that make it live sand? In other words, if I buy a detrivore kit, what species does it include? Thanks for any responses!!! <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Quick question.... I've searched the archives and haven't found anything regarding vaccumimg a DSB. I have this green mossy algae growing all over DSB and is now starting to climb onto rocks. I realize this is normal in a new tank but, is there anyway to control this. Even the Turbos I have...

FishNewbie- If you haven't already, go to the tank specs section and give us your specs. Then put the url for your tank thread in your signature line. OK, first off...unfortunately a naso is gonna get too big for a 75g. A yellow tang would be fine. Read this thread from the archives about...

I've been reading all the past messages and articles on this site for the past several days. I have been into several books lately to try and learn as much as possible and I'm still confused. I am sold on the DSB and have gone ahead with adding a 3-4 inch bed to my existing tank which had...

Well the tank is clearing up nicely this am but the temp in the holding container is about 85F and main tank is only 76 at this point. Needless to say bringing that temp up as fast as possible and mixing water between the 2 tanks to slowly bring holding tank into right range and acclimate at the...

I talked to Mike at Paragon Aquatics, where I am going to buy some LR soon. He recommended that I replace my 3 inch bed of crushed coral with sand. He said remove it about a third at a time over a few days - then add a base of the Home Depot Southdown sand and top it off with an inch of real...
