Hi, I've just finished cycling a tank for my dad. I went away for two weeks and asked him to go and buy a few more pieces of live rock. He went to an LFS that I'd never been to before.. Somehow they've sold him this Lobo coral with the live rock..
My dad wouldn't have known, and so it's been in...
I bought this coral a couple weeks ago and noticed a white-ish ring around the inside and on the underside. Not sure how well you could see from the pic but I'm just hopeful that it is healthy or at least will be... First brain (heard it) so any help is appreciated.
So on my lobo I noticed that there is something that looks like a small stick right below the heads. He is healthy looking and haven't had issues. I attached a photo the best I could get of it. Any ideas?
Yesterday I picked up a few new corals. Can you just confirm that this is a lobo? That's what it was labeled but it doesn't quite look like what I've found on lobos.
And can anyone ID this? I think it is some sort of macro algae. It is a little redder than the picture shows. Possibly red...
so i bought this little frag at the lfs and was told it was a green lobo. However i am not entirely convinced so im taking it to the reef tank for some confirmation or to reveal his true Identity.
Here is him under the Blue Led
Here is a pic of him after he ate
and finally a fts with him...
White stringy threads in a tight curl around the outside puffy parts are appearing. Not from the central mouth like my brain does when releasing excess algae but coming instead from the small bumpy parts on the outer donut ring.

So last night as i past by the tank i saw some stuff floating in the water so i went closer to take a look. They were little white/clear dots in the water and i noticed a lobo i have had for over a year had something coming out of it. It looked like a white flower kind of thing and those dotes...
So at my LFS I spied what was marked "red wellso brain". There seems to be a little debate as to which brain coral is which. So I was hoping for some input from you all.
The LFS is holding the coral for me as I'd like to give my newish tank a little more time. So far everything is going better...
So I traded in a hammer I couldn't find a spot for, my goniopora, and an acan, all were healthy but wanted some different color and texture not to mention some more sps.
at reef store number one I got this monti cap, and my first acropora. The acro has polyp extension and is in the turbulant...
a red blue lobo that has been plumping up nicely (with feeding almost daily) seems to be getting white tips around its red rim making it look like a candy cane...too much light? its mid range under 6 T5 lamps...any ideas/opinions
I bought a 6 inch orange carpet lobo brain today for 25 $ thinking it was steal, i noticed a bit of white patches on the brain, i asked the worker if it was bleaching, he said it wasnt, i just wanted to make sure i didnt buy a dying coral.
well after dealing with bubble algae, vermitid snails and lobophora i decided to tare down my tank and start over, the lobo got to the point that it was taking over my tank so i set up a 30 gal holding tank that ended up costing me $500 for tank, stand and light.
the holding tank.
