Hi, I'm trying to get the water in my aquarium as clear as the tanks at petco, so i bought kent marine phosphate sponge. I wanna make sure I don't kill the fish, so i was wondering if I should take the fish out and put a canister in the tank and let it sit for awhile. or is it okay to set...

I'm thinking of adding one in my sump. I have about a 5x5 space for something, so I'm thinking getting one and running phosphate and carbon, a few days a month (separately of course). Which ones and what media do you guys recommend? Or is there something better I could do with this space?
