Ok - here is my shroom on 12/30...
And here it is today - what is happening to it?
All of the 4 on the rock seem to be doing it... They have some white stuff on them - mostly in the center and aren't opening like before...

I'm trying to understand all of these things. Well, not the shoelaces... I have a pretty good grasp on those... finally.
Has anyone got a good link, or a good set of links to information on these things without going into chemistry class hell? I'm looking for something well written in plain...
I have a 90g with a 45 refugium and I am trying to get my calcium to 400 and my DKH to 12. I have over the last week, added a lot or both, checking the next day on Salifert tests and i still seem to be stuck at 300 calc and at the highest 8 DKH. All my corals seem to be doing fine excet a...
PH buffer and alk
I used a PH buffer to raise my PH, as well as using the 2-part B-ionic calcium buffer system. I then wound up with high alkalinity.
Since then, I have just used the calcium part of the B-Ionic, stopped using the alk part, and also stopped adding PH buffer.
My alk has...
I had used the Seachem PH buffer in setting up my tank and doing the first few water changes, as well as using the 2-part B-ionic calcium buffer system. I then wound up with high alkalinity.

My reef and fish tank just tested at 7 meq/l alkalinity...which apparently is high, but I don't know whether being high is a problem...most of what's talked about is dealing with low alkalinity.
I did notice my PH had dropped a little...it had been about 8.2 the last time I tested, and now is...

What is the best procedure for raising calcium levels? I'm currently using the ESV 2 part B-Ionic to maintain calcium and alk. I have been dosing 2 teaspoons of turbo calcium daily for the last week and still no increase.
Main Tank: 125g
02-16-03: 320 PPM Salifert
If I only do water changes approx. once a month, should I pay any attention to the magnesium levels in my tank? Or any other trace elements? I am dosing the two part B-Ionic supplement to maintain Calcium and Alk levels. Does the B-Ionic also replenish trace elements?
For the past few years I've been using the Kent Marine supplements in my reef tank. I've recently discovered the ESV Bi-Ionic Calcium buffer system and am curious how other members like this product and what other supplements people are using in their reef tanks.
Should I continue to...
