I'm going to be getting a HOB skimmer for my 75 gal tank. It will be reef once i get all the equipment :worm: Anyways, I've been looking around and have read that the new eshopps HOB skimmer is good and the octopus one also.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to which would be better or if...

Stupid newbie question of the day... hehe...
I have a "haze" on top of my water... Is this what the protein skimmer helps to clean up? I'm planning on getting on in the new week or so for my 29 gallon FOWLR which currently only houses a yellowtail damsel and a slew of crabs and snails...
back when I have a marine tank the under gravel filter was " all you needed" I am getting ready to start a 75 gal tank, old style, not drilled , it will have live rock and a few live stock,
Do I need a sump? if so can I buy one ready to use, and what size should I buy
i have a hang on wet and dry filter with protien skimmer rated for 55 gal, and a 100 gal rated power filter. ive been doing great with this but am looking toward a better way of filtering my tank i was thinking of a sump? any suggestions?
I am in the process of putting together my first reef tank. I am thinking of a 40G breeder tank(ok). So far as lighting what would I need for a selection of soft and hard corals? I am also thinking of a hang on skimmer any particular brand? So far as fish any recommendations?
Hello again ... Its clueless Jenn
First off I swear I read books before I started this project :)
But I think I'm starting a diatom bloom its covering my LR and starting on my pump and filter . My question is is it going to kill anything in my tank I have Zoo's and two fire fish .
:stars:Which is a better brand/ company / better quality product? Euro-Reef or ASM? Vote on which on you would rather have and tell us why. I'm trying to decide on these two. :lookaround:
i have a 30 gallon reef tank with a heavy bioload. I know that probably shouldnt have as many fish as i do but cant help it. i currently run a aqua c remora on it for about a year and i have mixed feelings about it. sometimes it skims really good and other times it stops skimming even though...
Ok ive narrowed it down to these HOB skimmers, if you know of anything better, please mention it, i want to know which one of these you think is best or recommend something you like better, remember i can only use an HOB and my tank is 75 gals. I think one or two of those are internal.

What is the best hang on tank protein skimmer for a 75 gallon. I want something that would handle a heavy bio-load.
What are peoples thoughs on Remora Pro with 700 Mag Drive, Deltecs, Lifereef and so on. Just don't want to over pay when I dont have too.
Good Morning all. New member to this forum and also BB.
I have had a 75 gal for over 6 year, and this past spring something went wrong with my DSB that killed almost everything in my tank. Needless to say I was devistated losing hundreds of dollars worth of corals and one of my fish.
Well I got a 55 gallon tank this weekend from a guy that had used it for a freshwater tank. Everything was pretty dirty and needed some cleaning up but nothing too bad. It had a bunch of stuff with it but I am only using the tank and the stand. Here is the tank and stand when I got them.
So i've had my tank for about a year, thinking of upgradeing to a 75g wondering what is the best HOB Skimmers out there?
I'm thinking a 75g or 90g tank
thinking of going Shallow Sand Bed
Not sure if i can handle bare bottom.
3-4 korillia hydor's 3 or 4's? should be plent of flow
what are the general guidlines for a sump style filtration systems flow rates and turnover rates for the tank? for say my 55 gal tank (soon to be a reef) what kind of gph should i be looking for? is 5-6 times the tank size sufficient or overkill? what brand of sub pump is recommended?
Hi, I really want to go bare bottom when moving to my next tank, either a 60gallon cube (25”X25”X24⅞”Deep) or a 45gallon cube (25”X25”X18⅞”Deep) either with or without a sump. But I have two questions…
First off, I was wondering if my skimmer would be good enough. It is an Aqua-C...
I am setting up a FOWLER tank without a sump.
I have been looking at the Deltec MC500 Skimmer and it looks good since it will fit nicely in the tank and looks to be quite efficient.
Has any one used one of these?
Where is a good place to buy one
what is your opinion on this sump
should i have better or is this one fine
its on a 75 gallon and is rated up to 75 gallons
i have a ca 4000 return pump
