HI, I am new to gorgonians (received one as a free gift from LPS). I have many soft and hard coral that are thriving, tank is 2 years old. Simple question: Is this gorgonian shedding or dying?

Picked up my first NPS this past week. Just hoping someone has some pointers or can tell me what to expect. Got a yellow gorgonian which has seemed happy for the most part - extended and good feeding reaction to zooplankton and marine snow (didn't give a crap about the phyto though). Sometimes...

Hello! As some of you may know, I've been thinking about keeping seahorses. However, I enjoy natural corals/ algaes more than fake hitching posts, so I'm hoping to keep a reef comprised of only gorgonians, various algaes, and maybe a leather or mushroom thrown into the mix. I have a couple...

I probably should have taken this picture with my dslr but it was much quicker with my phone. I just wanted to get some general feedback on my tank. It is the first reef tank I've ever setup myself and yes I know it's too small for the fish but I'm getting a 50 gallon next month.

Got some sort of gorgonian today, can anyone ID it for me? And some basic info? Placement? Is this one NPS? It's kinda soft and the branches are stiff-ish. They wiggle but hold their general shape. Thanks in advance! It's still acclimating, I'll try to get a better picture later.

So yesterday I picked up a nice gorgonian. After acclimating, I went to glue the gorgonian onto a rock when I noticed this little guy had hitchhiked. He's a tiny basket starfish, less than an inch in diameter. Really nice; orange, pink, white, and black. Probably the most colorful basket...

I'm thinking it's either a gorgonian or a light deprived Kenya Tree. Any ideas?

Hello Everyone. Last week I bought an indonesian sea fan (6 inches square) (red in color with white polyps). It opened the first few days and now has been closed for the last three. My Ca and Alk levels have declined with the addition of many new corals over the past two months and I am...

I got my gorgonian 3 weeks ago and was looking like it was going to die. It's branches were melting off and all seemed to be doomed. The Hydor Koralia powerhead was not making the coral happy. I did more research on gorgonian and notice that water movement is a big key factor. So I bought the...

Hoping someone could give me specific identification on the 2 gorgonians I have. The first is very fuzzy brown, fine extensions and just white/gray when contracted. The second is also white/gray when contracted but large, less fine tan stalked extensions. Thanks Dewey

Can anyone help with identification of this gorgonian?

This was sold to me as a "Rusty Gorgonian" ( scientific name Pseudoplexaura porosa) which was said to be photosynthetic. It came in looking like crap after shipping, but its made a great recovery and has constant daily polyp extension. Im not too concerned about what species, I just need...

So two days ago I received two photosynthetic gorgonians in the mail. I acclimated them and they looked okay but not the best. But yesterday, they started sloughing a lot of tissue. I fragged of the dead parts so I was left with a bunch of little frags. There isn't much sloughing today, but...

So I just purchased two photosynthetic gorgonians online. The seller only offered expedited (2-3 day) shipping for them. If packed appropriately, will they survive? And I believe they are in Florida, and the temps aren't crazy cold here in IL. Also, he's on eBay. He has amazing feedback so Im...

Hope everyone had a good christmas! I got a new t5HO fixture :) My mom's severely neglected tank houses some star polyps and assorted polyps, they looked very unhappy in there (the bulbs haven't been replaced in years) so I figured putting em in mine wouldn't hurt...They've opened up very nicely...

I was wondering if it is possible to frag a bushy sea rod. I bought one a week ago, but didn't realize just how huge it really is! From the base to it's furthest branch, the thing is over 1.5 feet. If they can be fragged, what is the best method?
