Quick Q about media. (my 1st reactor) dual chamber 5" and 4" I was thinking about using a corase media in #1 and a fine in #2. I figure that the finer media will have more contact the raise the effluent PH a liittle more than the corase. Am I right? Or should I just use coarse in both??

Montipora Dig? Care (Pic) 150g reeftank been established since 12/17/2006. Trying Montipora for the second time. Last time, algae overtook? Calc reactor running, Effluent PH 6.7 on meter. Need to dial reactor into 6.5ph effluent I guess. My question, does the off white edges imply growth...

I am setting up my calcium reactor. I don't know if its just that I am tired but these instructions for my pinpoint PH controller suck. I have it calibrate. I want it to controll my CO2 solenoid. I want it to have a centerline of 6.8 with a range of +-4. 6.6-7.0 according to the MRC...

I have been working on turning a couple of Berlin skimmers into a calcium reactor. This is how far I am so far. You can get the full story here http://www.wichitaaquariumclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=460 The thread is very pic intense and detailed.

I purchased a used a Myreefcreations CR-6. It is a dual chamber reactor. It has a pinpoint PH monitor, PH, blue line pump. It has the T adapter so you can check the effulent going from the first chamber to the second. It also has the regulators and bubble counter. I have a few questions. 1) I...

Okay, as many of you know I currently have a 125G SPS tank,.. the only reason this tank ever ended up with water in it was a comedy skit worth of errors,.. the fact that it got lights and coral never should have happened, then I went SPS with it, which also never should have happed,.. For the...

OK, here we go... I bought a 90g reef-ready tank from Sea Dreams to replace the 55g tank sitting in my family room. I wanted something a little larger without going to a 6' tank. I will be running it with a 45g sump which should give me a nice volume of water. The sump used to run DNGSPOT's...

A Korallin CA reactor, C02 bottle, regulator with silanoid, PH controller, 8 lbs of ARM media allot of little peices and no directions lol. This should be fun! I borrowed this from a friend of mine, I'm going to try it out for a month or two and decide if I want to buy one of my own. I...

I just checked the levels of my 180 gallon sps tank. Specs: Total volume = 220 gallons Mg = 1410 ppm Ca = 420 ppm Alk = 2.51 Meq/L pH = 8.2 Question, the alk keeps dropping lower in relation to my calcium. I am running a calcium reactor to try and deliver equal parts to maintain levels and...

Well, it came! The geo reactor and all the goodies. I have directions to go over a few times so that I can understand this fully...have to get the c02 (local supply place is only open M-F :( , but that will give me time to read over everything....need media also, so have a hunt going...

ok, so after following Hendersonracings' thread I am no longer scared to death of a Calcium Reactor, and of course want one :funny: . So I started looking around and I like the Geo's and the Koralin reactors. Do these run like skimmers, ie. Get the biggest you can afford? Does anyone know...
  13. Reef Build-Off 2007
I think I'll play along with the build-off as well. I have ordered a custom Oceanic tank, and while I'm currently waiting for it (and wondering if it will ever show up), I have been keeping busy with my current set-up and planning for the new one. If you look at my few other posts on this board...

I got a Pinpoint pH Monitor a few days ago and was quite surprised when I let in run on my 120g tank. The pH swings from around 8.22 during the day to 7.94 at night. I can only conclude this is due to dissolved CO2 from the calcium reactor, since the pH in my other two bare-bottom tanks only...

There seems to be a lot of little parts to a Ca reactor that I dont understand (bubble counter, flow meter. needle something...). I was just wondering opinions of what is necessary? There seems to be two levels of reactors. Bare bones ones and all the frills ones. I am considering buying one and...

I've asked some of this in a previous thread, but i was hoping for a little more clarity. A little history first. -Last winter, i stared cooking the rock and pulling out the sand bed. During this time, i was using 2 part dosing and keeping alk and calc around 11 dkh and 400 ppm. -In March, i...
