I have a 110 tank with 1 tang, 1 coral beauty, 1 marroon clown, 2 yellow tail damsels, 2 four stripe damsels, 2 peppermint shrimp and 2 coral banded shrimp. And somebody is cutting the fins on my tang and my coral beauty... just like they did it with scissors. Does anyone know who it could be...

Hey Folks, Just a question if anyone can help. My tank has been established for about 2 months, got over a brown diatom bloom. After I got back from my graduation trip to SF for a few days my tank is cloudy. Yet, it only seems to happen during the day when my lights are on for at least a few...

Joe, I think I was following you, until this point. You are talking about a dam and overflow situation, right? I have found that any sort of wet/dry just cycles things too fast in any of my tanks. Not allowing time for sufficient nitrate breakdown. HTH? Jerel

I have a question for a Wet/Dry Filter from the water line that leads from my overflow box to my DIY sump. I have been having problems with cycling my tank to nitrates as fast as my ammonia builds up. Now I lost 30 of my snails due to the rise and now still have remnants of the brown...

It has been awhile since I last posted. I have another 55 gallon sw fish tank, and I am keeping a few inverts in there as well. Nitrates are at 5 ppm right now, but I want to know how to reduce them without using a lot of live rock. My reef has a plenum and a deep sand bed, but I do not want...

Hi folks.. On the suggestion and reading of posts here, I am happy to announce I am the proud daddy of of a dozen slimey snails. I got a mix of 6 turbos and 6 ast. Question I have for you all is how many is too many? I have a 120 gallon, 120 lbs of LR. I was thinking of an even dozen of each...

Hi everyone!! It just seems that all the aquarium web sites that sell inverts(clean-up crews)reccommend far more snails and even hermit crabs that you really need. I know during brown diatom blooms you want to get rid of the awful looking stuff as soon as possible but buying more snails...

My tank has been set up for 2 and a half weeks. I have a 30 gal and 20 lbs of live rock. (hopefully getting more soon) Yesterday I noticed one piece of my live rock was getting covered in this brown stuff. Went and got some snails to try and control the problem and now it is getting worse...

The top layer of my substrate (coral gravel) has changed from a light color to mostly dark. Some of it has coraline algae. I first noticed it after I had rid my tank of a disgusting cyano outbreak in August. I've not had any more cyano, but the dark color seems to cover most of the tank...
