Hey crew, I picked up some rock that someone had pulled out of their tank a week or so prior to my pickup. I Setup a tank with a heater and power head to cure the rock, and it's been in there for about 3 weeks. I have been topping off, but haven't done any water changes because I thought the...

I have a question that might be easily answered. I bought dry rock from BRS and i placed it in my tank that i was getting ready to set up. I ran the tank with just the rocks for a few months and took readings every week or so. I experienced an amonia spike and nitrite and nitrate spike ...

Hello, I'm buying a bunch of dried live rock today that I am going to start curing. Should I cure this LR separately...

I just ordered 6 pieces for my 30 gallon tank. It may be overkill but I figured, too much was better than not enough. So I know it has to be cured before I can use it. I have tons of questions about this process. Can I use my 5 gallon bucket with saltwater? Do I have to keep it heated and have a...

I'm starting a new aquarium and I want to make it a reef tank. It's 30 gallons, and it has a couple pieces of dry rock that I'm trying to cure. 1. How much rock should I have in the tank? 2. Will adding cured rock facilitate the curing process?

Well, my rocks have been sitting for 2-3 weeks in the spa until I moved them into a 55 gal drum and put a powerhead on them. They have been running for 3 weeks in that, so now its time to put them in my tank. I am currently using just the salt water and not adding sand just yet (Will be using...

If Pacific Live Rock is really dead rock that must be cured to eliminate the organisms that die in transit and decay, an individual living in Florida starting a new Tenecor 100 gallon 48 x 24 x 24 bowfront acrylic tank with sump/refugium may wish to consider Florida live rock...that is, until he...

So... I'm still in the process of building my tank, it's taking longer then expected with some extra bills popping up. I had a question about curing some rocks. There is a debate at work between rather it is bad or good to run a skimmer durning the cycle. The arguement is a skimmer will pull out free floating bacteria and it will remove organics slowing down the growth of benefitial bacteria. What do you think?

For just under a year, I've been stalking the forums to learn as much as possible before building my first reef tank.
