Hey guys, when I bought the xenia it was on quite a large plate of live rock and had what looks like a clam on the underside. I broke the live rock so I could milliput it to a good place in the tank. In doing so the clam style hitchhiker came off. I set it on some rock near the front of the tank...
Both of these are interesting me as a good addition to my tank.
Nitrates do not exceed 5 i want to get a better test kit.
Phosphate .25 but i bought a hanna and got a zero(so it is broken getting it replaced)
I have a XR15 so i will be able to support anything.
Current stock is 2 clowns...
OK, so Lately I have been neglecting my tank a bit, and some zoas have kinda taken in some places where I have a clam. They have almost completely covered up the clam. Does anyone out there have any good ideas or methods how to trim back or kill the zoas without taking the rock out, or hurting...
Will Coral Banded Shrimp or Hermits harm 3" Maxima Clam?
It's a mix of brown leg and red leg hermits, and a large coral banded shrimp. Will they be too aggressive to a small Maxima Clam?
I'm worried they will tear/attack the mantle
so I was looking for an aptaisia that I had seen growing in my tank that I havn't managed to remove (not what im worried about here). I saw this little clam like guy moving across my live rock... was just wondering if anyone can give me some insight on to what he is and if he needs to be removed...
I was reading up on everything clam here on TRT, and was wondering if you think my tank is mature enough to get one!

This morning we found a very strange little creature - a spaghetti worm! And it was eating a piece of clam. I got a video of it. It was so cool to watch!
I love the little surprises that pop up in saltwater tanks. :)
Anyone have any tips for getting clams and anemones to release their hold on rocks? I'd like to upgrade the tank these guys are in but not use the rocks they're attached to. I've tried annoying one of the nems (both I'd like to move are rock anemones) with a tiny powerhead but he didn't budge...
My clam has been gaping at night and retracted in the day time. It's out siphon has been retracted which makes me think it's gills are clogged. I use to feed it phyto a lot and it had bits of cyclopeeze mixed in. What can I do?
I just purchased my first clam. It is an ultra blue maxima and seems to be acclimating to it's new home pretty well. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid, but does the mantle look ok? I'm concerned with the right side. Any help will be appreciated.
I know that it's because of low light but it have a maxima clam at about an inch lower that is thriving and growing everyday but for some reason this red planet started becoming green and the tips are becoming green now. Polyps are extended but not very. Flow is high and all is 11 calc is...
So I have a 1.5" Dersea and a 6" Maxima. My Dersea looks fine but my Maxima has this whole to it and I am quite unsure if its a good or bad thing, what are all of our opinions. How are some pics.
I plan to move it higher up on my rockwork on Wednesday. Just getting the clam acclimated to...
I'm probably getting a maxima soon and to acclimate it I will fill a little container with sand and put maybe a piece of live rock in there for the clam to attach and let that sit on the sand bed. After a few days I'll move it up to the next rock structure up and in the next few days move it up...
I started my tank 1 year ago...but my giga clam seems to be out growing my tank. I've had amazing growth in one year.
Should I get rid of him before he gets bigger?

2 x 150 metal halide
4 x T5 80w

I've had my tank for almost a year now. I've seen on one of my rocks what I thought was a dead clam. Today I noticed the dead clam was open and I when I went to poke it, it closed.
Is this a clam? Is there anything I should know or do about it?
