I've been so busy with work and life that I've neglected my tank for about a month. Much to my surprise my Cardinal has babies in his mouth!!! I'm so excited but I have no idea how to save them. I don't know when they're going to swim out and probably get eaten :(. I don't know how old they...
  2. Reef Fish
Well, I have no clue what the problem was. As some of you have read; Chubster was a brand new spotted mandarin addition. He was purchased on Feb. 15. He was eating great at the store, and in my tank too. Within 15 seconds of adding him to the tank, he was wolfing down 'pods. The...

Hey guys I'm interested in your opinions on the following two questions: I have a 55G reef tank; LPS & softies, tube anemone, shrimps, hermits, snails & a brittle star. Fish are comprised of a small yellow tang, 4 chromis and a royal gramma. I also have a 55G sump that runs almost full (I...

I've gone with Kent's Tech CB. It says on the label "Now Stronger 56,000 ppm on part A, and Now Stronger 7840 dKH on part B. The instructions state to use no more than 1/2 ml per gallon per 12 hours. As instructed I dose just that, when I leave for work at 6 am, and before dinner at 6pm...
  5. Reef Fish
Here are some fish I have considered (obviously not all of these in the one tank). Any obvious additions or deletions? Any feedback on any of these? Zebrasoma flavescens Yellow Tang; Paracheilinus carpenteri Carpenter’s Flasher Wrasse Harem; Pterapogon kauderni Banggai Cardinal (pair); Premnas...

Here is a pic of my tank as of yesterday. It needs allot of work still. Any ideas on improvement? I only can keep the one chromis alive. I bought 2 more fish 2 weeks ago and they died as well. My plan is to do a 50% water change and wait a week then try again. Any ideas on a heartier fish?
  10. Reef Fish
I'm wanting to start a 75G reef. There's many fish I'm finding just won't work out in a reef tank. Granted I understand reef tanks are not about the fish, but I would like to have some fish I can enjoy in there. What kind of fish would be full proof for that size tank? I wanted to put some...

I have a 200gal new reef tank... set up about 2 months ago. Great sump, refugium, skimmers, calcium dosing pumps, water sweeps etc. I have about a dozen corals so far... all seem to be doing well. Fish are another matter. After a period of stability, they are dying at 1-2 per day. First...

Hi there, As some of you may know i am soon going to be making my 50 gal. Freshwater into a Saltwater. Since I am new to this hobby I am not sure what fish can go with what. I have looked at compatibility charts but wanted to get info from the people that do it. I like bright colors and cool...
  13. The THINK Tank
My wife and I moved to Florida back in February and unfortunately I didn't have internet access until recently. My 180 gallon reef tank (approximately four years old) and all of it's contents were moved (except for the DSB) at this time also, and the following will document this experience. 1...

Well, it happened to work out that I was in Seattle yesterday, and Elmo18 was kind enough to let me come over and pick up the pair of Clarkii clowns I 'won' at the meeting. (Thanks again, Sam!) Cute little guy/girls. Elmo has quite the breeding setup going on. Anyone looking for a good healthy...
  15. The THINK Tank

I am setting up a 55GL tank right now with 40BL of LS and 55BL of RL. I also have a Sea Clone 100 Protein Skimmer and a Emperor 280 BIO-Wheel Filtration System. . As for lighting I am using 3 VHO 2 white and 1 blue. The nitrogen cycle should be over with in a few days. I want to keep at least...

I had a long hard battle with Ick and I lost one of my Percula Clown fish. I used Kick Ick to get rid of the dreaded parasite. Shortly after the Kick ick cycle, I went on vacation to Las Vegas. My automatic Fish feeder malfunctioned and My fish went without food for about 3 days!!! When I...

Just a curiosity question. I have had fish for a few years , seen literally hundreds of tanks at club meetings and the like, and know a fair number of very accomplished reefers and fish keepers. I read all the time about how big fish get , and the "tang police" (love that term ) regularly tell...

Greetings, One of my 4 banggai cardinals (male) is carrying already hatched babies in his mouth. I presume he is in his 18-20th day since you can actually see the fry in his mouth. Here is my dilema: Since i was not really prepared for this, i do not have a breeder setup. 2 choices: 1)put...
