Those of you that have a gl*******s 1500 gph overflow (or have any input to add), is there any reason to put ball valves on the 2 1.5" overflows? I'd rather not if I dont have to but I'd rather know some pros and cons before plumbing. I have a 75 gal dt, 29 gal sump and mag 9.5 return. Thanks!

Does it matter where my UV light is located as far as plumbing? Should it be on my return line or suction line or somewhere else?

I have a 75 and have been torn between these 2 pumps...i have been hearing different things about them. I was to do LPS and SPS corals and now i just run alot of power heads which i hate. With the quiet one i can only have about 4 exits for the closed loop which kinda annoys me beacuase i want...

I was given a tank that was drilled on the sides. A 1-1/2" for the overflow and a 1" for the return. The problem I'm running into is the return pump (Mag 7) pumps water out of the sump faster than the overflow can fill the sump. Any suggestions?

Every LFS owner I visited said it couldnt be done. But I went ahead and did it, and I was successful! Some background history. My tank has a overflow compartment, but for some strange reason it didnt have holes drilled in it. No problem, I said then, since it was for FW fishes. So I just...

As Matt, Jake, and John know I found a slight leak on the base of my 75 :( It is just salt creep at the moment but I am finding it at the base of the tank where the plastic guard is at. Also underneath where the plastic guard is, if I scrape away the salt underneath it feels damp. Soooo...

I am using the aqua c ev180 skimmer and I cant seem to get it to produce enough skim. I have been using this for months and recently changed my sump and am now using a Quiet one 4000 on it. Previously I was using a Mag 12 and it produced some skimmate, (like a half cup per week) but never...

Well, okay, 2 questions. First, the back story. I've got a cowardly oscar, and to try to reduce stress on him I'm going to try to just rig up an easy water change pipe, so I can just do little bits at a time with a big water change once every couple of weeks instead of once a week. I was...

I am planning to start up a new system and do a complete build thread. But for now I'm just gonna throw this out there and see what you guys think. External dimensions are 60x30x20 I'm just gonna make it easy and call it a 155g, the sump will probably be an ADHI Berlin 60. I am planning on...

I'm setting up a 230 ga . I ordered a hammerhead pump from marine depot as per the manufacture. I will be running the main tank and the skimmer off this one pump. I have 2 1in returns at this point and 2 1 1/2 drain lines . the recommended flow rate is to turn over the water 10x an hour in the...

Maybe someone can help me with my drains , I have a 150 with two overflows . The thing is the drains are in the side panels of the tank (came that way I didn't put them there) and their about 3/4" from the trim that goes around the top of the tank . They are making so much noise that I had to...

Well, who am I kidding? It was bound to happen so why resist? Over the last few months the wife and I have talked about what would be my summer project this year since she knows that I HAVE to have something to occupy my time otherwise insanity sets in. I told her that my plan was to teach a...

It says in the instructions to keep the end wet. How important is this? I guess I'm suppose to use regular tap H2O.

I am using the Eheim 1262 setting this up in a new sump. I did a trial run yesterday and had some leaks. I am almost prepared to run this again. I noticed yesterday that it seemed that the pump was taking out too much. I am using it on a 125 gallon 1 inch intake, 3/4 inch return- 2 overflows...

and I bet half of you will say "well duh ... we knew that" ... but dont bust my bubble anyway. I once read that some use a turkey baster to blast the rocks. So I inserted a 3/4" T into the return line of the sump pump. Then I put 2 ball valves in ... one on each outlet of the T. The...

Okay, I am going to share how stupid I was with all of you. Yesterday I got home from work and realized that I was out of RO water and I wanted to do a water change. So I hooked up my unit to the faucet and started filling my ten gallon rubbermaid container that I use to store the water. Well I...
