  1. General Reef Discussion
So this algae is growing in the air hose of my skimmer. Is this a sign of something bad or just. Amateur so occurrence? Should I remove it or is it ok to just leave it?
  2. General Reef Discussion
I'm not sure if this is algea or what but I just wanted to get you opinions and make sure it's not something bad. I have a purple "algea?" That is growing on one of my live rocks. It's dark purple/black looking and feels fuzzy. It grows in kind of a veiny pattern.
  3. Pests, Hitchhikers, and Diseases
Hey guys, there are weird creatures located on my rock base and their population is constantly increasing. I could not detect what exactly are they or are they dangerous or not. Any help appreciated. Nitrate: 0 Phosphate: 0 Ammonia: 0 Silicate: (will be updated tomorrow)

My tank finished cycling about a week ago and had a big algea bloom- I don't see it so much o the rocks and sand as I do on the tank glass. I scraped down the sides last night when I did a water change and it's already covered again. Is this a normal outbreak? Most if the pics online show the...

I woke up the other morning to find a good amount of brown and hair algea on the glass of my tank. It's finished cycling a couple weeks ago, is 45 gallon and contains corals/cleanup crew and two fish. Water parameters test perfectly and everything seems in the tank seems happy/healthy. Should I...

Weird day while cleaning out the tank. :D:D:D Besides the hundreds of ticked off Brittle Stars that were giving me the finger (Or tentacle), I found a weird creature (LARGE- 2+ inches) that may be a sea cucumber, a strange white anenome (I think), and noticed a few clumps of a weird algae in...

We got home from a few days away and saw this odd red blob growing on our live rock. Any idea what this is? Is it red slime? Not sure what's up with the bubbles?? We have two hermit crab, trochus snail, cerrith snails, and a tuxedo urchin... I don't suppose any of them would eat that, would they!?

Hey guys so I have my 25 Gallon reef set up. Its a couple months old now. Anyways my question is what are some critters other then hermit crabs that can take care of diatom algea and green hair algea? How many emerald crabs could I have in my set up? I currently have 1. Last water change, I decided to clean off some snail poop and other little flaws from my substrate and also moved around a couple of my rocks. I disturbed substrate quiet a bit. Next day: diatom dusting, following day: tiny bubbles all over live rock, following day: green algea on rock. By...

So I have long hair algea issue. Levels are fine. I just recently found out my bulbs being older could cause this. That they need to be changed yearly? I've tried the sea hare slug, turbo snails, water changes, cut back on feeding feeding. I was recently looking into why I still have it and...

The reason people buy dry rock is so they don't get the bad things that come along with lice rock, and it is cheaper. Is it still possible that dry rock can leech phosphates. All of my nutrient levels are great and I do a 5-10 gallon water change a week on my 29g, but I am still fighting algae...

I have a question about the algae issue. I have a well established reef (28 gal Nanocube) running for 4yrs and all my corals and fish are doing great. I do have a GHA and glass algae issue so I'm starting to make some changes from advice I have seen here and other threads. Basically I have...

So I was reading something and I realized that I might need a new sand bed? I had an green fuzz algea problem so I bought a bunch of astrea and turbo snails which took care of it. But my phosphates are reading 5.0 needing a water change, then two days after wc, 2.0. So i was told this algea...

I was just wondering if ANYONE can help me to figure out how to get rid of the Red and Green Algae in my two month old Nano tank . The water is FINE ! It's been tested, no problems at all, its always good. I now have five Turbo snails, obviously not doing the job of getting rid of it, but I...
