Since you all complained about my Monday thread and not being able to find the M, I made coffee and donuts for breakfast. A second pot is set on a timer (because I know the sleepy heads won't wake up for another 5 hours or so). I have the parts, I hope, to build a skimmer with tonight, so...
Ok, so I am "allowed" to use my 180 in the living room. We've decided that the living room carpet can be sacrificed :) I've cleaned out the tank, here is a "before" picture.
I'll have to reinforce the stand and fix the canopy to open in the front. (stand and canopy I'm going to use aren't in the...
We all know the benefits and science behind 'cooking' rocks. What if these methods were applied to live sand?
Wouldn't the phosphates and detritus eventually be flushed? Of course there'd be slightly different methods: such as vacuuming instead of swishing.
Im only thinking out loud here and...

I just got done cleaning my powerheads and I'm about to place them back into my tank (the 5:1 water to vinegar worked great!). I've dried them off on the outer surface with a towel and I know the little bit of vinegar involved isn't going to throw my parameters off in a crazy way...but it did...

"Why should one use aragonite?
Aragonite is a naturally occurring, calcium carbonate mineral. It is precipitated from ocean surface waters mainly by organisms (e.g., coral) that use it to make their shells and skeletons. In recent years, aragonite has...
Hey has anyone ever used GE Silicone I before? I just got done with sealing my new sump baffles with it, and as I was reading down the side of that tiny tiny print, at the very end, it says:
Not for: food, or aquariums.
I called GE and asked why, and why wasn't that much better explained...
Hi. I have been treating my 500 litre reef tank with Exodin for the last 5 days, following the instructions to the letter.....

How long do I keep them in?
I just picked up my 30g cube and its kind of dirty on the inside. My question is are you able to use soap or is that a bad idea? B/c i assume it would be kind of hard to get rid of all of the soap. What all did you guys use???
I've got a white colored haze on the inseide of my glass tank. Not sure what it is, maybe lime deposits? It's an old tank that I had in storage for a couple years and now set it up again. Didin't notice it when I was cleaning it, but now it's driving me nuts :arg: . What is it, and how can I...
