This is the smoothest, quietest pump that I have ever seen. This pump came with my Korallin Calcium Reactor. It's been rock solid and like I said ... silent. Great quality.

| Installation and Operation: |
Installation will take you less than 5 minutes. As with every Eheim products details and product informations are well provided in and out of the box. I use mine in my sump/refugium as my return pump, I usually do cleaning on it's impeller housing every other month, an occular inspection for proper water flow everyday which goes with everything else as a routine to the hobby.

Personally, I haven't had problems in using Eheim products. They do come with warranties from dealers though.

Flaxibility and Versitility: They're available in 2000, 3000 and 5000 series(can be run internally of externally).
Compact and Powerful: For a pump of it's size, these pumps can move so much, 528GPH and an Hmax of 7.54'(for compact+ 2000 model)
Adjustable and Convertable Features: The pump has a flow rate adjustment incorporated in it (264-528GPH in this model), can operate with a detachable connector for hoses (for external operation) or a foam cartridge for sump/refugium and in tank uses. It also comes with a rail mounting other than the standard suction caps you get from competing...

| Installation and Operation: |
Installation is simple. I have mine set up in a submersible setup in my sump. It is hard plumbed with 3/4" PVC to my return in the tank. I have been running mine off and on for almost three years and have never had a problem.

| Performance vs. Expectations: |
It performs as it is rateed. This pump is not the most energy efficent, but it pushs alot of water for such a small pump! Pump runs cool and I experience no noticable heat transfer to the water. I have this on a 90 g. I had to plumb a recirculation loop to dump water back into the sump because it pushes so much water my drain could not handle it all.

Not the cheapest pump on the market, but it is made by Eheim. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.
Eheim is a very reputable brand.

I have never dealt directly with Ehiem. I did break the ceramic impeller shaft once while cleaning (I dropped it onto a cultured marble countertop). I was able to locate the part easily through an online vendor and had my pump up and running again in no time.

I love the prefilter sponge on the intake side, prevent debris and critters from getting into the impeller and damaging the pump.

Very easy to install and use, this is certainly the gold standard for submersible pumps. I've used one of these primarily for my skimmer supply for the last 4 years, but I've also used them for return pumps. While you don't quite get the flow out of them as compared to some other external pumps, they are dead silent, draw little power, and are very robust. I've very much enjoyed employing eheim products over the years, and this pump is no exception.

Amazing performance compared to my expectations, I originally purchased this to replace a gen-x pump I had on a skimmer. The main reason was due to the noise from the gen-x. I couldnt even tell this pump was on when I originally fired it up. It adds almost no heat to the tank and works very well.

Kind of hard to quantify this if you're looking at a straight flow rate versus price comparison, as this is a pretty spendy pump. If those are your only comparison parameters, this has a pretty low value. But if you add in energy consumption, noise level, and life of the pump then this item is priceless compared to other products.

I can't say I've ever had to deal with eheim directly, but maybe that's a review in and of itself; all the eheim products I've used have been flawless, and I've never needed support.

Most of this is already captured, but this pump is quite, energy efficient, long lasting, easy to install, has good flow rates, and doesnt add much if any heat into the tank. Performance wise, I can't think of a negative thing about this unit.

Cost wise, this is certainly an investment. If you like buying items once, this is in your wheelhouse. If you're looking to save a little, though, this certainly isnt your best choice. The only other thing I'd note is that it's not a small pump, but that's a pretty small issue in my opinion.

I've used mine as a return pump mounted externally to reduce heat.
The housing is sealed very well and no leaks with a lot of on and offs during feedings.

while I like the idea of the hose locks, I have trouble finding hose to fit other than the Eheim brand.
Metric! Finding fittings is near impossible in the states.
