Hello everyone ,I was wondering if it was better to have yur tank sitting on carpet or a hard suface (granite ,marbel)?

Good Morning, My 90g is on a cement floor. If you figure the weight of the tank, stand, water, rocks, sand, etc. it adds up fast. I cut out the carpet and made sure it was level. I thought the carpet would compress and perhaps cause it to not be level.

I am just a beginner, my tank is two months old today. Others will have more comments for you soon....

Well....most of us don't have a choice of which surface to choose as the floor comes first then the insanity.... (not counting padded rooms) Personaly, I know that along with the tanks come water changes (no one ever spills a drop of water, right?) Messing with the tank contents (no one ever spills...etc) and on and on...the tanks are full of water so fill in the rest. The bigger the tank the more weight etc so the primary concern is solid support, and level as we know you're dealing with some large tanks. If the option is available, a level concrete surface with a waterproof covering is best, from there it is a decorator/checkbook issue. My guess is your house (Texas)is slab base, no basement, so support is not and issue. If you are starting from base up, keep in mind that no mater what you do, you will have water spills so make it easy to clean.

If you wish, send an e-mail off post if you have some specific needs and we can follow up in more detail as desired.
